Apex Ranked Cheat Tips: Reports, Spectators and Staying Low-Key
Ranked is the riskiest place to use a cheat in Apex. Players care more about their RP, they watch death recaps closely, and they report more. If you still choose to play ranked with a cheat, the goal is to look like a good player, not a perfect one. This guide covers where reports come from, how to use the spectator list and legit mode in Apex Private, and the habits that draw attention.
Be honest with yourself about the risk
There is no setting that makes cheating in ranked safe. Two separate things can end your account:
- The anti-cheat. Apex uses Easy Anti-Cheat. Whether a cheat is currently detected has nothing to do with how you play. That is why you check the status page before every session, and especially after a game update.
- Reports and reviews. Even when a cheat is undetected, obvious play gets reported. Reports alone may not ban you, but they can put your account in front of a closer look.
This post is about the second risk. You control it with your settings and your behaviour. You cannot control the first one except by checking status and stopping when it changes. If you are not willing to lose the account, keep it out of ranked. Use a fresh account that you can afford to lose.
Where ranked reports come from
The squad you just eliminated
The people most likely to report you are the three players you just sent back to the lobby. In ranked they have just lost RP, so they are motivated. They see who killed them and a recap of the damage taken, and many of them spectate you for a while after they die.
Death recaps
The death recap shows how much damage you took and from whom. Players don't see your crosshair from the recap, but they can see numbers that look wrong: very high damage in a very short time, or lots of headshots from long range. If your damage looks too clean, they will spectate you or report straight away.
Spectators
After your opponents die, they can watch you. Spectators see your view: where you look, how your crosshair moves, when you pre-aim corners. This is where most cheats get caught by players. Smooth tracking is fine. Snapping, tracking through walls and turning to face someone you could not have heard are what get clipped.
Use the spectator list
Apex Private has a spectator list that shows when someone is watching you. Turn it on and actually look at it.
When the list shows someone watching:
- Stop pre-aiming walls and doors. Look where a normal player would look.
- Don't track people through smoke or gas.
- Lower your aimbot FOV or turn aim help off for a while.
- Don't rotate straight to a squad you should not know about.
When the list is empty, still play sensibly. People can start watching at any moment, and you won't always catch the change. Treat the list as a warning light, not permission.
There is also a spectator mode in the settings menu. Read your setup guide on the guides page for how it behaves on your version.
Legit mode and settings
Apex Private has two aimbot modes: Legit and Rage. In ranked, there is no good reason to use Rage. Rage gives you obvious snaps and inhuman tracking, and a single spectator clip is enough to end the account.
A ranked-friendly setup looks like this:
| Setting | Ranked value | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Mode | Legit | Movement that looks like a player's hand |
| Method | Curve | Slight arc instead of a straight line |
| Bone | Chest or closest | Head-only gives an unrealistic headshot rate |
| FOV radius | Small | Only helps when you are already on target |
| Smoothness | High | Tracking instead of snapping |
| Visible check | On | Never aims at people behind cover |
| Ignore knocked | On | Doesn't lock onto downed players |
| Max distance | Moderate | Long-range lasers stand out |
| Recoil control | Partial | A perfectly flat spray looks wrong |
For a full walkthrough of each setting, see our Apex legit config. The general theory is in legit aimbot settings.
Many ranked players skip the aimbot entirely and only use glow ESP. Glow changes your decisions, not your aim, so there is less for spectators to see. It is still a cheat and still carries detection risk, but behaviour-wise it is much quieter.
Positioning habits that look natural
What gives cheaters away in ranked is often not aim, it is knowledge. With ESP on, you know things a normal player doesn't. The skill is in not acting on all of it.
- Rotate like you have information from the game, not the cheat. Use gunfire, Recon scans, ping sounds and the ring as your reasons to move.
- Don't third-party every fight perfectly. Arriving at exactly the right moment, every time, looks odd.
- Don't look at hidden enemies. Keep your crosshair where a normal player would check: doors, windows, high ground.
- Take some fights you might lose. Avoiding every bad fight with perfect timing is its own pattern.
- Let your KD look like a player. A sudden jump in damage and kills across many games is easy to notice.
What to avoid
- Rage mode in any ranked match.
- Head bone with low smoothness.
- Tracking enemies through walls, smoke or Caustic gas.
- Playing with Draw FOV turned on while recording.
- Playing straight after an Apex update without checking the status page. Our cheats after a game update post explains why updates matter.
- Climbing to high ranks quickly on a fresh account. Fast climbs attract attention.
- Using an account you care about. Ranked history, skins and progress can all be lost.

Frequently asked questions
Is it safe to use cheats in Apex ranked?
No. Nothing makes cheating in ranked safe. Legit settings and good habits lower the chance of being reported, but detection depends on the anti-cheat, so check the status page before you play.
Can spectators see my ESP?
No. Spectators see your game view, not your glow or overlays. They can see how you aim and where you look, which is why behaviour matters more than visuals.
Does the spectator list show everyone watching me?
It shows players spectating you in the match. Use it as a warning to play cleaner, but don't treat an empty list as a guarantee that nobody is looking.
Should I use the aimbot in ranked at all?
If you want the lowest report risk, use glow only. If you do use the aimbot, keep it on Legit with a small FOV, high smoothness and chest or closest bone.
