Cheat Glossary: Aimbot, ESP, Chams, HWID and 40 More Terms

New to cheats? Product pages are full of jargon. This glossary explains every term you are likely to see, in plain English, grouped by topic.

Aim features

Aimbot: software that moves your aim onto enemies. Good aimbots are configurable so they look human.

FOV (aimbot): the circle around your crosshair in which the aimbot will pick up a target. Smaller is subtler.

Smoothing: how gradually the aimbot moves your aim. High smoothing drifts; low smoothing snaps.

Bone / hitbox selection: which body part the aimbot aims at, such as head, neck, chest or the closest bone.

Multipoint: the aimbot checks several points on the body and picks the best visible one.

Prediction: aiming ahead of a moving target so travelling bullets land.

Stickiness: how firmly the aim stays on a target once locked.

Target switch delay: a pause before the aimbot moves to the next enemy, so it does not flick unnaturally.

Visible check: only targets enemies you can actually see.

Knocked check / ignore knocked: skips players who are already down.

Silent aim: bullets hit the target without your crosshair visibly moving. Powerful but risky.

Triggerbot: shoots automatically when your crosshair is on an enemy.

Recoil control / no recoil: counteracts weapon kick so sprays stay on target.

No spread: removes random bullet spread.

Legit vs rage: legit settings look human; rage settings are maximum strength and obvious.

Visual features

ESP (extra sensory perception): information drawn over the game, such as boxes, skeletons, names and health, often through walls.

Box ESP: a box drawn around each player. Corner and filled boxes are variants.

Skeleton ESP: lines showing each player's bones and stance.

Snaplines: lines from your screen to each player.

Head circle / head marker: marks each enemy's head.

View direction: shows where each player is looking.

Off-screen arrows: point to enemies outside your view.

Glow: outlines players or items in colour (common in Apex).

Chams: colours player models so they stand out, sometimes through walls.

World / item ESP: shows loot, chests, crates, traps and other objects.

Gadget ESP: shows deployed equipment such as drones and cameras (common in Rainbow Six Siege).

Radar: a 2D map view showing every enemy's position.

Render distance: how far away ESP draws.

Types of cheat

Internal cheat: runs inside the game's process. More features, closer to the game. See internal vs external cheats.

External cheat: runs as a separate program and draws an overlay on top of the game.

Private cheat: sold to a limited number of users, which keeps it under the radar.

Streamproof: the overlay does not show on OBS, Medal, GeForce or other capture software. See what streamproof means.

Loader: the program that checks your key and starts the cheat.

Config (CFG): your saved settings.

Unlock all: unlocks cosmetics such as skins client-side.

Exploit: a feature that abuses a game mechanic, such as Fortnite Lumi's fullbox.

Anti-cheat and bans

Anti-cheat: software that detects cheats. Examples: Easy Anti-Cheat, BattlEye, Vanguard, Ricochet. See our anti-cheat guide.

Detected / undetected: whether an anti-cheat currently recognises a cheat. Check the status page.

Ban wave: many accounts banned at once, often after a detection update.

Account ban: one game account is banned.

HWID (hardware ID): identifiers from your PC's hardware.

HWID ban: your PC is banned, so new accounts get banned too. See how to fix an HWID ban.

Spoofer: software that changes your hardware identifiers. Temp vs perm spoofers.

Cleaner: removes tracking files a game leaves on your PC.

Shadow ban: you are put into matches with other flagged players without being told.

Store terms

Key / licence key: the code that activates your cheat for a set time.

Day / week / month / lifetime key: how long the key works.

Status: Undetected, Testing, Updating: whether a product is safe to use right now.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between ESP and wallhack?

They mean the same thing in practice: seeing players or information through walls.

What does streamproof mean?

The cheat's visuals do not appear in recordings or streams.

What is the difference between an account ban and an HWID ban?

An account ban affects one account. An HWID ban affects your whole PC, so new accounts are banned too.

What does undetected mean?

The anti-cheat does not currently recognise the cheat. It is a current status, not a permanent guarantee.
