FiveM HWID Ban Fix: Global Bans, Server Bans and How to Get Back

FiveM has two kinds of ban, and both can follow your hardware. A global ban from FiveM itself blocks you from every server, while a server ban from a GTA RP server's staff or anti-cheat blocks you from that one community. Either way, if a fresh account gets banned the moment it connects, your PC has been flagged. The fix is to spoof your hardware IDs and run the FiveM cleaner before you connect again.

Global bans vs server bans

Global bans

FiveM is run by Cfx.re, and the platform has its own client-side anti-cheat. When it catches cheating, it can issue a global ban. You will usually see a ban message when you launch FiveM or try to connect, and you cannot join any server at all.

Global bans are tied to more than your account. FiveM collects identifiers from your PC, so a new account on the same hardware can hit the same ban.

Server bans

Every FiveM server is run by its own community, with its own rules. Staff can ban you through admin tools such as txAdmin, and many servers add a server-side anti-cheat. FiveGuard is one that some servers use.

Server bans can use several identifiers at once. Depending on the server's setup, that can include your Rockstar licence, Steam ID, Discord ID, IP address and hardware tokens that FiveM provides to servers. That is why a server ban can catch you even after you change accounts: one matching identifier is enough.

A server ban only affects that server, and it is up to that community whether to lift it. Some servers accept ban appeals, and if you think you were banned by mistake, that is worth trying first.

How to tell what you have

What you see Likely cause
Can't join any server, ban message on launch Global ban
Banned from one server, others work Server ban
New account banned on the same server right away Server ban linked by an identifier, often hardware
New account gets a global ban straight away Global ban linked to your hardware
Everything works on a friend's PC but not yours Hardware-linked ban

Why changing accounts doesn't work

Your account is only one identifier out of many. FiveM and server anti-cheats look at your hardware: drive serials, motherboard and BIOS values, network adapter addresses. Our guide on how to check your HWID shows which IDs your PC reports and how to read them yourself.

FiveM also stores its own files and cache on your PC. Those leftovers can link a new session to an old one even if your IDs change. So a fix needs two parts: a spoofer for the hardware IDs, and a cleaner for the files.

The fix: spoof and clean

Our Temp HWID Spoofer:

It is a temporary spoofer: your real IDs return after you restart, so you spoof again each session. If you are on Windows 11, check your version before you buy. Our post on the spoofer and Windows 11 24H2 shows how.

Step by step

  1. Buy a spoofer key and unlock your setup guide. Your key is also saved on your orders page.
  2. Close FiveM, GTA V and every launcher. Check Task Manager for anything still running.
  3. Run the spoofer with the one-click spoof and the FiveM cleaner.
  4. Check the HWID checker to confirm your IDs have changed.
  5. Use a new identity (see below) and connect.
  6. After every restart, spoof and clean again before opening FiveM.

A new identity: what to think about

Spoofing handles your hardware. The other identifiers a server sees are separate, and you need to think about each one. In general terms:

The common mistake is spoofing perfectly and then logging in with one old account that ties everything back together.

Mistakes to avoid

Joining with an old linked account

Even one identifier from your banned setup, such as your old Discord, can undo the whole process.

Forgetting to spoof after a restart

A temp spoofer resets on reboot. Spoof and clean first, then launch FiveM.

Going back to the same server and same habits

Server staff know their regulars. If you rejoin the server that banned you and play the same character the same way, staff can recognise you without any anti-cheat at all. Read our guide to avoiding cheat bans for the broader picture.

Ignoring how the anti-cheat works

Global and server anti-cheats get updated. Our anti-cheat guide explains what each system looks for, and the status page shows the current status of our products before you play.

Frequently asked questions

Is a FiveM global ban permanent?

Treat it as permanent. Global bans for cheating are not normally lifted, so plan on spoofing every time you play on that PC.

Can a server ban me by hardware?

Yes, if the server is set up to. FiveM gives servers hardware tokens, and many servers and anti-cheats such as FiveGuard use them alongside your Rockstar licence, Discord and Steam IDs.

Does the spoofer include a FiveM cleaner?

Yes. The Temp HWID Spoofer includes a FiveM cleaner, and it lists FiveGuard among its supported anti-cheats.

Will reinstalling Windows fix a FiveM ban?

No. Your drive, motherboard and BIOS IDs are stored in hardware and firmware, so a Windows reinstall leaves them the same.

Do I need a new Rockstar account?

If your licence identifier is banned, yes. The spoofer changes your hardware IDs, not your Rockstar licence.
